Hi there!
I saw some people swap their 2101 dashboard with a 2103... and saw the tutorial!
But I haven't found any of theses here in France, so do you think it is possible to fit a Niva dashboard??
Thx!

Too wide!!!

But for now, I'm embarressed with the choice of the camshaft...
I have a 1.6 niva engine with its 5 speed gearbox, and just want more grunt on the road (power under 4000 RPM?). Just bought two Solex carbs.
Mr Gaal tells me to fit a 275 (1500-1600), and to lower the head 1,8mm.
But is it possible to use a hotter cam, and keep a daily-use engine, without block or piston modifications?
I see so much options!! (296, 302...)

Please help!!

Hi,
my opinion is that you can use any of these cams on street, I have tried some of them(1300-1500@296/292 and GRA1 302/293)they are working very well without drastic fuel consumption. Even more they are flexible, starts charging about 2000-2500 rpm and the end is about 6500-7000 rpm. But you need to pull up the CR at 10-10.5:1 (by lowing the block or the head). in the niva block the piston deck clearance is about 1,8mm so it is a good start to lower the block and not modify the head for now.

What is the difference between lowering block or head? I should lower the block by 1mm then?

The difference is the area of the circle against the the combustion chamber area.
You need to grind down the block to 1.8mm to reach the CR 10:1, imagine how many you should grind down from the head to reach the same value, it's about 2,5mm or even more.

But maybe it is easier to grind the head by 2.5 than the block!! No one wants to do that here for less than 1600000 forint !

 That's incredible much!

If you grind the head too deep, it will be thin and collapse under the pressure :(

Maybe you should try an other (engine repairing) workshop, this is a basic task.
Here, in Hungary it costs maximum 10.000Ft to grind off the block...

I opened the Niva engine yesterday... This is my piston deck clearance!
How can I remove 1.8mm from the block to reach 10:1 CR??

"Did you get your money back? Because that account broke off. The new account number is the real, what I sent you."

Nothing serious, only making some turmoil around the stolen money.

You need to cut the springs, to set the wishbones paralell to surface? Because, I have original springs and the lower wishbones ( A arms) are paralell with the surface. Thats the original setting of lada classic cars. And for this you don't need to cut that rubber stoppers.

I see many engines with special carbs linkages. Most of them are home made (cable) but these ones seem to be manufactured... Any ideas where to buy them? I will need one for my Solex's!

Or you just get one made at your local machine shop. Its a very very simple mechanism, it shouldnt take an expert more than 5 minutes to figure it out. Don't get me wrong, the stuff that vincent linked is great, but probably you can get one made for the price of the shipping ;)

In our country, no machine shop would accept to build this for one piece only... and if they do, it will cost a lot! :(
Can one of you ask the seller if he would send a complete kit to me?

Hi!
He sent me the following:
Hali
"40 avenue du 8 mai 1945
60000 BEAUVAIS"
persze tudom postázni csak megírhatnátok hogy címezem meg mert nem nagyon értem a cimet ez küldte.

In transtalion:
Hi
"you sent this to him"
of course I can, but write me how to adress, because I can hardly undertand the adress.

So what he need:Name, house number, street, city, county(if applicable), country, Postal code(like Szolnok Hungary: H5000)

I think it will be better if I translate for you and for him.

just the rear mounting console of the gearbox has to be changed for a 5speed gearbox console.
They are not the same, but I1m not sure, what kind of console is in the niva.

I've bought a lot, from him.
If you need help, I can call him.

I'll ask you.
But I suggest, to buy only the rear stabilizer bar, for front use the original, just double it(this trick is really works, and wery cheap, and you can find the "know how" here in the forum
