Hi, is there someone who can advise me on custom gearboxes or stock gearbox modifications for lada VFTS? Even though I'm from russia, unfortunately there is no sports parts for 2105 type ladas, only Samara and 110 series. A true disaster for VFTS fan like me.. :(
I'm looking for straight-cut gear sets or ready-to-install boxes.. Shipping and payment is not a problem, though Hewland gearbox is to expensive for me :)
Also I'll be very gratful for contacts or sites concerning this particular topic.
Thanks.

Hi there!
You can buy a straight cut gearbox at around a cost of 600 to 1000 euros, it is complete, you remove the old one, install this, and ready to go.
For example, check this:
http://racing-bazar.hu/alkatresz/hajtas/lada_tolokerekes_valto_es_speer_elado__.html

"Hosszú1:Új, Garanciás. Ár: 185.000.-" Straight cut, longer first gear

"Rövid1:Új, Garanciás. Ár: 185.000.-" Straight cut, shorter first gear
These are costing 650-700 euro

"6 Sebességes: Új, Garanciás. Ár: 250.000.-" Straight cut, six speed, ~900-950 euro

I don't know, how do you want to buy a gearbox here

All of these are dog boxes, the synchronized straight cut gearboxes (R2-R4) are cheaper, only about 200 EUR.

The ratios are here (VFTS):
http://www.celtia.hu/zsiguli/muszaki/va ... toossz.htm
There are two types of dog gearboxes homologized at the FIA (long 1./short 1.).

The sper costs 320 EUR.

Thanks a lot for info.
Can you please drop a link or contact where I could buy asynchronized straight cut gearbox.. I want to check all available offers.. really don't mind to buy couple different gearboxes and its spare parts to test them and find optimum :)

BTW, how do you spell in Hungarian 'gearset'? I mean not gearbox itself but ready to install gears and shafts.

straight cut gearboxes you can find here:
http://www.panoramacomp.hu/users/ladarvaltok/

but I don't recommend you this type for rally using, it's worth to buy the dog type.

"gearset" could be - "fogaskerék sor"

The one that Pavel linked isn't up for the task. The gears can lose the tooths very soon, because they aren't made properly.
The straight-cut version of those gearboxes cost around ~220 euro, and it isn't perfect, as i wrote.
But.. If you choose a gearbox with a modified ratio, but not a straight cut one, that'll be fine, those are as strong as the original Lada gearbox. That costs ~130 euro.

Thanks for helping Adam, I'm quite amazed how many stuff you can buy for sport lada in Hungary. One last question though..
Tol??kerekes - means dog shifters, right?
And 'V??lt??' mens gearbox?
I'm pretty confused with terms, wich goes for wich.. :(

where from? and is it a genuine lada one?

About the boxes - can you link me to a good one for rallying with the short first gear please.

Is that a full box or is it the gear sets.

Im very interested now too!

I do have straight cut gears in my car now, buts its a sierra type 9 gear box, ist not a Lada gear box, its a Ford one, and 5th gear is 0.89 and thats not what i want. Direct top with 2.78? first is the baby! I can stick with a standard 4.4:1 CW&P then.

Thanks!

http://racing-bazar.hu/alkatresz/hajtas ... ado__.html

complete dog gearbox with short 1. - 185000 HUF (250 HUF/EUR)
LSD - 80000 HUF

These are not Lada parts, all of them are made in Hungary.

You can buy almost anything here for Ladas, but if you install them, you'll get confronted with the police very soon.
